Description
Here’s a fairly unknown vintage Sennheiser. The MD415 N was released as a handheld alternative to the MD409. With shock-mounting inside of it’s housing, it was meant to be a 409 that could be removed from a stand by a vocalist, minimizing handheld noise. Otherwise, it’s meant to be an MD409, and can be had at a much more affordable price.
This one is in a rare factory gold. I’m not certain but documentation seems to point to the gold being offered at the start of production, putting this one right around 1971.
This microphone came from a huge collection from a sound guy here in NL who toured with Bowie in the late 70’s. He claimed that Bowie sang into this microphone. He also had a bunch of MD421’s that had added on/off switches. I can’t find any western European shows of Bowie using this gear, but if you do, please let me know! Either way, Bowie would look really cool with a gold MD415, and so would you.
This one has had the diaphragm cleaned and some shotty internal wiring re-done. The original label was missing, so a new one has been printed and applied as well (Sounds Lekker branding in leiu of a serial number). Additionally, internal foam has been replaced.
As always, ships with a beautiful handmade padded pouch and a tuchel to XLR tail. Also included is the original clip, which has one slightly cracked side. Additional new clip upon request.
